Medium: Line Sculpture of 1/4″ Copper Wire on Pine Wood Base.

This sculpture is hand worked from a single strand of 1/4″ copper wire that starts and ends at the eyes to create a “Pacassoish” face.

To create the finish for this piece the copper wire has been allowed to naturally patina. The base was cut from a 2″ x 10″ piece of pine, sanded and coated with clear polyurethane. The face is mounted to the base with 7 hand-made copper staples.

If placed outside or inside by an open window, door or vent the sculpture will move with the air creating an interesting effect.

To care for this sculpture when displayed indoors nothing need be done other then an occasional dusting. If displayed outdoors a coating of clear polyurethane should be applied to the pinewood base to maintain the original finish and to prevent weather damage and darkening of the wood.
