Reclining Nude
Reclining Nude No. 3
by: L Algaier
Medium: Hand forged steel pipe
Finish: Waxed copper sulphate and natural patina
The basic shape of this sculpture is cut from plain dimensional steel, hand worked in the forged and on the anvil to create a visually interesting art form.
To create the finish the piece is heat treated and quenched in a copper sulphate bath to create a deep stable patina of steel grays, copper reds and iron browns. It is then hot waxed to stabilize the surface colors.
To care for this sculpture when displayed indoors an occasional coating of furniture polish will suffice. If displayed outdoors a regular coating of car wax should be applied to maintain the original finish or, if desired, it may be allowed to weather to a deeper natural patina.
